Our client approached us to come up with a scheme for their recently purchased family home, to convert an unsympathetic 1960s extension on the side of their property, into a separate granny annexe, in keeping with the rest of the building.
After some thought we suggested a part reconfiguration of the front elevation, increasing window sizes to match the main building, together with the removal of an up-and-over garage door, and replace with an additional window and secondary front door.
Internally, after completely stripping out, we created a very smart ground floor kitchen diner with fully fitted bathroom and storage. Upstairs we created a living space with sliding patio door accessing a large balcony and bedroom with additional w/c. Both the ground and first floors benefit from wet under floor heating.
In all, this scheme has created a fantastic additional living accommodation together with disguising a previous extension by adding architectural features borrowed from the main house.
