40 Portland Road was a challenge, not because of what had to be done, rather the amount of work needed to help the property take on a greater status. Apart from the red brick facade and rear, together with its roof structure, everything else had to be replaced. We created a whole new second floor allowing for two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. This, together with the rest of the property, was accessed via a brand new galleried staircase.

The property offers delightful brick faced elevations set beneath a pitched tiled roof with relief offered by sash fenestration projecting single storey front bay to the front façade and brick chimney stacks.

The central reception hall has a quality beige and brown limestone chequered tiled floor and radiates off to the three principal reception rooms. There are splendid period style fireplaces to include a marble surround with cast horseshoe inset in the dining room and a beautiful bath stone surround within the drawing room. Both principal front reception rooms also benefit from solid hardwood floors.
